Christmas mantel 2010

I set out to work on our mantel with the intentions of going simple. Well, I guess I was carried a way a bit. This being my first Christmas with orange kitchen walls, I needed to make it mix and flow. I got by with spending very little. My biggest splurge was on the orange bulbs. In today’s economy, make the most of what you already have and don’t be afraid to switch it up a bit!

Six years

Anniversary Special:

No, not of the Blog! I have been married to Mr. Truffle for six years! It sure seems like just yesterday we were saying our vows & planning the future. We are truly lucky to have found each other.

“love is old

Love is new

Love is all

Love is to you”

Lennon & McCartney

One of my favorite things about us, is we continue to inspire one another. (plus Mr. Truffle really enjoys my cooking) I’m looking forward to many more fabulous yeas of adventure.

Hanging on to the last bit of fall.

Sunday Dinner:

I’m trying to enjoy fall, but they are pushing Christmas. So I got together a marvels pork roast along with squash (topped w/spices and brown sugar), corn, and mashed potatoes. For dessert…..one of George Washington’s favorite, Pumpkin pie. In those times, the pie was really a whole pumpkin, baked in the oven and filled with eggs, cream, brown sugar, molasses, and spices. Oh, and topped with butter. I’m not sure how healthy this dinner was, but Mr. Truffle is still raving about it.

Cozy at home

What does this weekend mean to you & yours?

I declared it a scrapping weekend retreat at home. My wonderful husband made me breakfast and picked up & bought carry-out for dinner. I’m up to my elbows in glue, paper and embellishments; dressed in yoga pants and sweatshirt. Life is good! I guess its fall (after daylight savings) which creates an atmosphere conducive to camping-out in my craft room. Here’s a preview, check back soon for the completed project.

Creating a work space

Pottery Barn Inspired

Are you the creative type; looking for a special space to work from? Remember that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get that special retreat. I love to gaze at the beautiful staged spaces in the magazines. But remember, Mr. Truffle the cost analyst sometimes throws a wrench into the decorating budget. So…make the best with your allowances. Just this week I found a Pottery Barn organizing system on Craig’s List for a fraction of the original cost. Keep checking back for the craft room updates.

GoodBye Fall

Goodbye Fall:

Yes, today I heard the “S” word, and I don’t mean Santa! Life is moving and a lot faster the older I get. I want you to take a moment or two and enjoy my picture show of the fall season. It may be time to put away the Halloween stuff, but we still have some autumn splendor to enjoy. The next holiday is Thanksgiving and I have so much to be thankful for.
