Plan time for yourself
The end is near!
Wow, August is hectic isn’t it?. Kids back to school, shopping, arguing….but all the kids are wearing them….really??? And of course taking the last of the vacation time off.
Be sure to take some time for yourself, maybe organize something with your neighbors and girlfriends. Whether it be a book club, cooking club or bunko. My neighbors and I get together once a month for bunko. It’s a night of food, beverages, great neighbors and a chance to check out everybody’s nest. The sub is new and initially we didn’t have a full complement of players. Gayle organized the event using a friend from a other neighborhoo to fill out the group. Now that the place is selling out we have a waiting list. I guess this reflects Gayle’s efforts at creating a wonderful club. Patricia, one of the stand-ins, was a fabulous hostess. She served up a lovely spread along with a beautiful ambiance, I’m sure you’ll agree, so come along and take a look……

The Tollgate farm ~ Novi, Michigan
Today I’m joining Just a Girl’s Show and Share Day.
I live in a suburb, but in its prior life, this was farmland. In order to maintain its history, the city decided to preserve one of these farms, along with its surroundings. Come along and see what I mean. Strange how visiting a place so close to home can make you seem so far away. Let me know what you think. What came to my mind was using it as a backdrop for wedding photos, or more simply, a site for a romantic picnic.

Summer Picnic by the lake
What summer means to me.
When you wake up on a Sunday, and it turns out beautiful, it poses the possibility of spending it picnicking. Nothing special, just good food, good music and a lazy afternoon. Just being close to the water on such a perfect day is a delight. Really doesn’t get better. Note, we had gluten free BLT for Mr. Truffle, what a treat. We splurged with Oscar Meyer extra thick cut, apple wood smoked bacon, a wonderful product. It cooked up perfectly in the oven, providing a thick meaty cut for the sandwiches. The sandwich was accompanied by icy cold Mountain Dew and topped off with tiramisu.
